Amanzimtoti Tennis Club newsOn Saturday 18 February we will be having our Sandra Cup Tournament along with the opening of our “new” courts. Please be at the club at 12.30pm for 1pm to allow the draw for partners to take place. Format will be mixed doubles. Entry is R50, includes a boerie roll. After the prize giving we will host a bring and braai. Salads and dessert will be provided. We look forward to a great turnout for this event. There is still time to enter the two Valentine tournaments taking place tomorrow, Wednesday 15 February at Glenashley and Saturday 18 February at Mitchell Park. Details are on the notice board. Our development clinic for primary school children has commenced for the first school term. If your child shows an interest in learning to play tennis, bring them down to the courts on Saturday mornings from 9am to 10am. Madi and Gabriel are on hand to show the children how it’s done. Tennis racquets are available for use and children should ideally wear tennis type shoes. SoccerAdults and under four to under 17 started practice this week. From here on it’s soccer and rugby all the way -here’s to a good season for all.BowlingIn the coming weeks the A green at Amanzimtoti Bowling Club will resemble a floodlit T20 cricket pitch as teams face off against each other to decide who the Amanzimtoti B20 Cricket Bowls champions are.Proving that this new and exciting format of bowls is not for sissies or old men dressed in white, Amanzimtoti Bowling Club challenges all businesses, schools, sporting clubs and organisations to enter a mixed ladies and men’s team willing to go to war for their team’s honour. Teams of three are encouraged to design their own uniforms, wear their brand on their chests and even bring along their own cheerleaders, as they put their best bare foot forward and get those bowls rolling.To ensure that the fight is fair, a pre-game crash course is available to all teams. Bowls will be available at the club for the teams to ensure that they are adequately armed. (Please note – maximum of one recognised bowler per team).Suitable refreshments and sustenance will be available before, during and after all games to ensure that all warriors’ throats are kept lubricated and their energy levels high.If your organisation has what it takes to field a team of three willing warriors, then contact Amanzimtoti Bowling Club to sign up - but hurry, only 12 teams can be accommodated.
