SIX weeks ago, artist and art instructor Zelda Coetzer hosted the first Oasis Artist evening, under the auspices of the Upper South Coast Art Association (USCAA).

It is an opportunity for new artists to learn painting techniques and skills and to create their own masterpiece.

The second meeting was held on Friday evening, June 9 at the Amanzimtoti Tennis Club clubhouse.

Eight artists enjoyed a social evening with snacks and drinks, while learning to paint a landscape of a Drakensberg scene.Armed with sets of paint, brushes and charcoal artists followed the step-by-step instructions from Coetzer and after a couple of hours completed impressive works of art. Several already booked their spaces for the next evening.

The Oasis Artist evenings will be held every six weeks and there are 10 spaces available for each session. Cost is R300 per person. To book your space, contact Zelda Coetzer on 082 561 6807.
