RESIDENTS of Amanzimtoti were both shocked and saddened on Tuesday morning, upon hearing the news that a dead baby whale had washed up on the shores of Pipeline Beach in Athlone Park.

Officials were on scene as well as members of the community who wanted to see the whale on the shore.

According to a municipality worker on scene, they were waiting for the mammal to wash up higher on the shore before they attempted to remove it.
