Benoni visitor dies after structure collapse

2016-03-23 06:00

ON Wednesday 16 March at 9.05am Netcare 911 paramedics and their response vehicle raced to the scene on a structural collapse at a residence in the Illovo Beach area.

Reports from the scene indicate that a water tank on the roof of an outside toilet filled with the heavy rain and as the weight increased it caused the structure to collapse.

“Paramedics arrived at the scene and found that a man, believed to be a holidaymaker from Benoni, had been crushed under the water tank. “Tragically he died at the scene due to the extensive injuries that he sustained,” Chris Botha, media liaison officer - Netcare 911 said.
“After police completed their investigation, the Netcare 911 rescue officer and police search and rescue removed the body from the building,” he said.
