Blaming the past

2016-03-23 06:00

BEING a white male born in 1967 was not easy if one had been pro-black.
Aged 14 years, I was given a resounding slap by my father for greeting an African lady while she was on the road and I standing on the verandah. My primary-school teacher taught us it would be in our best interest to often place our beds in different sleeping positions to make us less of a target for shooters.
At 19 years, and having not as yet received my army call-up papers, my father took me to the army head quarters and had me enrolled where I was taught more filth. Can I claim from the past regime for the messed up person I am today.
From first employment in retail management to my current position as a car guard, I respect my African brethren - they deserve it.
