THE eThekwini Outer South Cluster Deputy Commander, Brigadier MVP Mgobhozi is not the type of man who likes to sit behind a desk.

He is an officer who likes to work with his members on the ground and make arrests. On Monday, November 13, he received information regarding four criminals in KwaMakhuta and immediately responded.

Brigadier Mgobhozi and his cluster team quickly proceeded to KwaMakhuta Hostel in response to the information.

On arrival, two suspects were apprehended, but two escaped. They searched for the two and found two unlicensed 9mm firearms and recovered two hijacked vehicles taken in Durban Central and Phoenix cases. The suspects were arrested for Section 36 – possession of stolen property and possession of unlicensed firearms.

With the assistance of the community and the quick response to the information given, two suspected carjackers were removed from the streets and two illegal firearms and two hijacked vehicles recovered. The recovered firearms will be sent to SAPS ballistics to ascertain if they were used in other serious crimes.

Major-General TJG Ndlovu, eThekwini Outer South Cluster Commander said: “This is excellent work done by Brigadier Mgobhozi and the eThekwini Outer South Cluster team.

“Their commitment to remove crime from our streets needs to be commended.

This arrest would possibly not have been possible if it was not for the information supplied by the community and the quick response made by Brigadier Mghobhozi.

“Working with the community we can do so much more.

Let us continue to remove unlicensed firearms and dangerous criminals from our streets together.”
