CommUnity project complete month of cheer

THE CommUnity Project, an initiative by community volunteers to inspire the community to assist non-profit organisations in the area, completed their month of service to the community. A total of 33 projects were completed in the five weeks.

These, among other projects, included:

· Collecting food and supplies for Amanzimtoti Cares.

· Replacing a dormitory roof and donating a single bed and linen for men at Amcup.

· Handing out blankets and meals to the homeless,.

· Upgrading the vegetable garden, repairing the pool pump, repairing cracked tiles and donating non-perishable food to the Deaf School.

· Donating food and toiletries to

· Building maintenance, upgrading a vegetable garden, donating a new washing machine and non-perishable food to Jonah Vaughn home.

· Upgrading the playground, building a new vegetable garden, donating sewing machines and equipment and non-perishable food to Mother of Peace.

· Building and garden maintenance and donating baby supplies to

· Building shelving for the library and donating school supplies to Red Cross Preschool.

· Building shelving for rooms and donating toys to Amanzimtoti Turning Point.

· Renovating three classrooms and converting a classroom to a kitchen at Seed of Hope.

Volunteers also did unique visiting and caring and musical sessions at several of the non-profits.

“We would like thank the community for volunteering, donating and assisting, it is because of them we were able to help these organisations,” says CommUnity Project leaders, Bruce and Anne Ellis.
