Domestic worker held at gunpoint

ARMED robbers held up a domestic worker and a gardener in Kingsway Road in Athlone Park on Friday.

Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said the domestic worker heard the intercom buzz and opened the front door to see who was at the main gate when the robbers struck at around 1pm.

“One of the suspects had already managed to get onto the property and he held her up at gunpoint the moment she opened the front door. He demanded that she open the driveway gate where his accomplices were waiting in a VW Golf GTI with an NUZ registration.”

He said five men jumped out of the vehicle and forced the domestic worker and the gardener back into the house.

“They ransacked the house in search of valuables and fled with two televisions and a safe containing cash and jewellery,” he said.

Amanzimtoti SAPS attended the scene of the crime and is investigating.

In a separate incident in Winifred Close in Kingsburgh on Monday a suspect fished keys to a kitchen door out of a window.

“The suspect then entered the property and stole a laptop and bag.
“He then threw the keys for the door back into the home before fleeing the scene,” Jackson said.
