WHAT many girls dream about in their childhood and often throughout their teenage years, is what Zeenath Desai is now living.

She’s a wife, a sales executive and a doting mom to two boys, but this Johannesburg beauty has also been crowned Mrs South Africa Globe 2018. Desai will be jetting off to China to represent South Africa in the International Mrs Globe pageant.

Groomed to be graceful as an air hostess at the age of 19, Desai was inspired to start a journey in the modelling industry. It was only when her work colleagues entered her for the Mrs SA Globe competition last year that she compete in her first pageant, not knowing that she would win the title.

“From 3 700 women, it was cut down to 100. I was totally flabbergasted and amazed when they announced my name on social media,” she said.

The fitness enthusiast attributes her pageant success to her love for fencing and believes that without the discipline of an avid fencer, she would not have won the crown. “I do fencing because the precision of the sport keeps me disciplined, and if I didn’t have the sport behind me I don’t think I would have got this far.”

During her reign, Desai’s schedule is packed with charitable work for She’s Royalty, a non-profitable organisation where she cares for teenage girls and teaches them to overcome various socioeconomic difficulties.

She is also heavily involved in caring for the elderly in her community.

“Making an impact on young girls who don’t believe in themselves, as well as lending a helping hand to the elderly, are the most fulfilling things for me. I sit with them or play games and just listen to them. I want to carry the ubuntu spirit of South Africa as far and wide as I can.”

The self-proclaimed soccer mom said that attending to her duties as Mrs SA Globe has proved daunting now and again but her family has been her pillar of strength.

“I have a very strong support system in my husband. He’s backed me all the way in my journey for the past six months. To handle the pressure on stage, I always just thought of my children and how proud they are of me.”

Desai’s future plans for her business ventures are already in motion. She plans to launch her own line of nifty sportswear soon and looks forward to proudly representing South Africa at the global pageant in November.

Pageant girl and model Nkosazane Dambuza is aspiring to be like Mrs South Africa, she is a presenter, philanthropist, fitness guru and was one of the top five finalists in the Mr and Miss Ushaka Marine 2016 pageant competition.

She is looking forward to her journey in modelling and making a mark in South Africa.
