ON 14 January provincial task team members made a breakthrough when they arrested a 67-year-old gardener for murder of Nadarajan Nayager (65).

On 13 January Nadarajan was found dead at his home at Orient Drive, Isipingo. His hands were tied and there were multiple injuries to his body. The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage. A case of murder was opened at Isipingo police station for investigation.

After an intensive investigation by members it was established that the deceased had an argument with his gardener who tied him up and killed him before fleeing with Nayager’s cellphone.

SAPS members traced the suspect to Malakazi area, near Isipingo and he was arrested for the alleged murder. The cellphone belonging to the deceased was recovered. He was charged accordingly and will appear in the Durban Magistrates’s Court this week. The KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended members for their dedication in solving the case and arresting the suspect.
“We also applaud the commitment of the members and believe the justice will take its course,” she said.
