YOU have to give to be able to receive, is something Neil McDonald, CEO of Khanya Hospice has always said.

“We cannot be seen as just standing with our hands begging. We also have to give and it is with the thankful heart that we are able to also do this,” McDonald said.

The deed to the word and Khanya Hospice donated food and adult nappies to people in desperate need.

“Our very good friends, Errol and Sharon-Ann Theron, well known in the Toti area, popped into Hospice house to see the work that Khanya Hospice Nursing staff are doing in the area and mentioned people in the Toti area who are in desperate need of food and medical supplies,” Neil said.

He explained that years ago, when they were young, people who belonged to a pension fund were made to understand that their pension would be more than sufficient when they retire.
It would have been true, was it not for the monster called “inflation” that is eating away their savings and people did not foresee this.

“Now years later, at the age of 70 and 80 people find they have not enough money and cannot make ends meet as rent, water and lights, medical expenses, etc., have increased dramatically and the cost of fuel and cost of living is escalating by the month, “ he added.

Errol and Sharon-Ann are very involved in the Toti community and help the destitute in many ways. Should you need to contact them, you may do so on 083 312 5360 or if you want to donate to Hospice, contact 039 973 1783, 083 597 8985 or hospice@scottnet. co.za
