THE death of Neville Rudling after a short illness brought out the Amanzimtoti community to celebrate his life.

Rudlings’ ashes were scattered at Winklespruit Beach on Saturday, February 24, and thereafter a massive paddle out took place where locals grabbed their boards and paddled out into the ocean in remembrance and celebration of Rudlings’ life.

Sapphire Coast Tourism chairperson Romy Wentzel said: “Neville Rudling, you will be missed. What an awesome turnout at your paddle out. Exactly what you would have wished for — the local surfing, sea, lifesaving community, young and old all united, to celebrate your life. RIP Neville, and wishing his family all the strength during these difficult times.”
