Holidaymakers caught in rip current

2016-03-23 06:00

ON Thursday at 6.15pm Netcare 911 paramedics received a call for a drowning on the Amanzimtoti beach in front of Strandburg flats. Reports indicate that holidaymakers from Johannesburg had gone for a swim when one of the men was caught in a rip current.

“A fisherman walking past swam out and pulled the man back to the beach. When paramedics arrived they found bystanders treating the victim who suffered severe near- drowning symptoms. Paramedics stabilised the man before transporting him to a hospital in Umlazi,” said Chris Botha, media liaison officer - Netcare 911. - Supplied.
