THE Sapphire Coast Community were up in arms after a vandal defaced the popular Hoot Bridge over the weekend.

According to Romy Wenzel Sapphire Coast Tourism chairperson, the “re-paint” of the Hoot Bridge in Winklespruit was a Sapphire Coast Tourism Initiative to paint all bridges “blue” within the Sapphire Coast Region. Wenzel said that the bridge was cleaned up and re-painted at the end of last year by volunteer workers, therefore, it was very sad that someone decided to deface the bridge by spraying graffiti.

“There are still many more bridges that require a fresh coat of paint in our area and any artists are most welcome to contact Sapphire Coast Tourism, if you would like to lend a helping hand to make a little difference in your home town.

A big thank you to Candice Harding from Clean Surf Project who assisted in the touch up job and finally, the ‘Hoot’ made it back onto the wall,” said Wenzel.
