THIS year marks a milestone for Kamalinee Primary School as it completes 35 years of existence. It was established in 1981 and opened its doors to the first set of pupils in 1982.

The school in Lotus Park stays true to its name, like the lotus flower, and continues to thrive and shine above the rest, despite its challenges.

To commemorate this coral anniversary, school stakeholders got together on Thursday, 20 October to launch the 35th anniversary celebrations.

The morning started with pupils singing the national anthem, while the South African flag was raised. A special assembly was held highlighting the achievements of the school, followed by the cutting of the anniversary cake.

Pupils then assembled in the grounds to form the shape of the number “35” where an aerial photo was taken by a drone.

Pink and blue helium balloons with special messages attached wishing the school well on its 35th birthday were released.

“Kamalinee Primary boasts a pleasant environment for pupils and teachers alike and is committed to service delivery in the education sector, community development and holistic development of all pupils.

“I am proud to be associated with the school,” said Minesha Singh, former pupil and convener of the event.

The main event, the school’s 35th anniversary reunion, takes place on Friday, 18 November at the Toti Civic Centre at 6pm. All ex-pupils and associates of the school are urged to contact the school on 031 902 4534 for more information. - Supplied.
