WORLD Hospice and Palliative Care Day will be celebrated on Saturday, October 13, and Khanya Hospice has started the celebrations already. Sixteen fifth-year students from the Nelson Mandela Medical School UKZN, PMB campus joined the Khanya Hospice nursing staff and will be doing home visits in the various areas that Hospice serves. “This is often an ‘eye opener’ for students that have not had exposure to very sick and terminally-ill patients suffering from cancer, TB and HIV/Aids. Khanya Hospice has been around for 33 years with head office in Umkomaas,” says CEO, Neil McDonald. “The University of Johannesburg has taken Khanya Hospice on as a project and their architectural students are currently busy drawing up building plans to extend the current hospice facility in Umkomaas,” says McDonald. Anyone needing to contact Khanya Hospice can do so on 083 597 8985 or email@example.com — Supplied.
