TWO children almost drowned at Warner Beach on Sunday at around midday.

Netcare 911 paramedics responded to a call of a double drowning at the Baggies Beach.

“Reports from the scene indicate that the two sisters, three and four years old, had been playing in the tidal pool when they disappeared under the water,” said Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha.

A quick-thinking bystander and the lifeguards pulled the children from the water, but one of them was unresponsive.

“When paramedics arrived at the scene they found the lifeguards and public had done CPR on the three-year-old. After a few minutes the child started coughing to the joy of everyone. The advanced life support paramedic examined both children and found they displayed near drowning symptoms,” added Botha.

The patients were transported to a provincial hospital under the care of an advanced life support paramedic.
