New year, a time for self-reflection

2016-01-06 06:00

AS they say, time and tide wait for no man. Can you believe 2015 has come to an end.

As I watch each year go by, I reflect upon the past year, my age and my purpose in life, and ask myself what preparation I am making for my final destination, the grave.

We all need to do some self-reflection. Are we concentrating and spending our energy and resources on the correct things? Are we making a positive difference in the lives of others with the choices and decisions we make? Are our social interactions and financial dealings ethical, fair and honest? What legacy will we leave after we die?

This year let’s resolve to become active citizens and commit to transforming our country into a place of justice and equality. Let’s resolve to look for opportunities to empower others and build and practise on our universal human values.

Moreover, as this year ended we see an even more urgent need to raise our voices to end war and occupation.

As the year ended, I wish that all the inequalities, imbalances, unemployment and poverty also end, and that 2016 brings peace and prosperity for all.
