Nipper champs to begin this month

VOLUNTARY lifesaving clubs on the South Coast will be hosting a number of regional lifesaving championships from January to April and the public is invited to enjoy the club rivalries going back as far as 1928.
Scottburgh Surf Lifesaving Club will host the KZN South Nipper champs on 24 January from 8am. Children between the ages of eight and 14 will compete in beach and surf events. KZN Nipper Championships will be held on 6 and 7 February at Addington Beach.

Nippers will also compete for a place in the KZN provincial team to participate in the Lifesaving SA National Nipper competition at Marine Lifesaving Club from 31 March to 2 April.

The KZN Junior Provincial Championships will take place on 31 January from 8am at Winkle- spruit Surf Lifesaving Club. Junior competitors from under 15 to under 19, representing all the KZN Surf Lifesaving clubs, will compete for club champions and a place in the KZN provincial side to compete in Lifesaving SA National Championships in Port Elizabeth from 17 to 20 March.

The KZN South Senior and Junior Championships will start on Saturday, 20 February at 2pm to Sunday 21, with the prize giving at Warnadoone Surf Lifesaving Club.

Clubs from Amanzimtoti, Warnadoone, Winklespruit, Fast Track, Scottburgh, Park Rynie, Margate and Umtavuma will be in action to be named KZN South Lifesaving Club champions.

KZN Open Senior championships will be held at Amanzimtoti Surf Lifesaving Club from 2pm on Saturday 5 to Sunday, 6 March. Not only will the top club honours be decided in female and male beach and surf events, but also up for grabs, a place in the KZN provincial side to compete in Lifesaving SA National Championships in Port Elizabeth from 17 to 20 March.
