No sense in Sanral and e-tolls

2015-12-02 06:00

I JUST cannot see any logic in Sanral and e-tolls.

I mean, if toll fees were cut 50%, and now e-toll users with outstanding fees have been offered a 60% additional discount to pay their arrears accounts, that is effectively an 80% reduction in toll fees, which does not make the initial budget planning that was done appear credible.

Then Sanral says that it is to reduce crime and upgrade the roads.

This is strange as e-tolls are a form of automotive and economic theft, and just over 80% of the toll fees were to go to an Austrian billing company.

Sanral must have been trying to enrich itself and relieve the ANC of the task of administering our most populous province and economic hub, in which case, it has performed admirably.

Still, it could have saved billions of rands, but where is the creativity or fun in that.

I mean, it had already elected Jacob Zuma as leader.
