A MAN was critically injured after being hit by a car on Saturday night in Amanzimtoti. Bystanders tried to assist by transporting the injured man to the Amanzimtoti Fire Station.

According to Netcare 911 spokesperson, Chris Botha paramedics received a call from the Amanzimtoti Fire Department requesting assistance with a patient who sustained a head injury.

Two Netcare 911 paramedics and the ambulance crew arrived at the fire station and found the man to have sustained life-threatening injuries. The patient was placed on a ventilator and stabilised before being taken to hospital. The incident is being investigated.

In a separate incident last Wednesday another pedestrian was hit on the N2 in Winklespruit at about 1.30pm.

“Paramedics were called to assist with a pedestrian crash on the N2 south.

“The Netcare 911 advanced life support paramedic found that the provincial service ambulance was attending to the critically injured patient.”

The paramedic and ambulance crew stabilised the patient before taking him to a provincial hospital. - Supplied.
