Reporting crime really does pay off

2017-05-24 06:03

THE public is again urged to report any crime to the police and open cases.

Proof that reporting crime pays off was
demonstrated at the Amanzimtoti Magistrate’s Court recently when a 47-year-old man was charged with possession of stolen goods valued at R50 000.

Since the suspect was arrested and appeared in court, nine complainants have come forward and identified stolen property belonging to them.

The complainants were reportedly in a road race in Underberg when the property was stolen out of their vehicles recently.

The accused reappeared on May 9, for a formal bail application, but was denied bail. The suspect remains in custody.

His next court appearance will be on July 28.
