Roadies prepare for SA road race

2016-02-10 06:00

THE Toti Roadies continue to enjoy their training rides during the week in and around Toti, from Tuesday to Friday, leaving at the Engen Garage on Rockview Road.

On the weekend, the distance is increased.
This past weekend, some rode south to Park Rynie while others did the full loop to Umzinto.
There are only two weeks to go to the Midmar Notts Road Race on Sunday, 21 February and four weeks to the Argus on Sunday, 6 March.

Everyone is hard in training for those two events.
The SA Road Race Championships are taking place this whole week in Westville, with the culmination on Sunday, 14 February, being the Elite Road Race with the likes of Louis Meintjies and Jaques Janse van Rensburg riding.

It is with a very sad heart that we report the terrible accident that shocked the cycling community on Sunday, 7 February.
Two cyclists were killed on the M4 Ruth First Highway when an alleged drunk driver ploughed into the group of cyclists from Kings Park Cycling Club who were out training for upcoming races.

Our sincere condolences go to the families of Richard da Silva and Jared Dwyer.
