RECENTLY I watched a movie that knocked off my warm and comfortable socks, made me put on my rainbow- coloured stiletto heels (only) and jump.

The movie was about a middle-aged sales lady (aspiring chef), who had discovered she had a brain tumour and had a few weeks to live. She quit her job and was determined to live her bucket list.

Having rid herself of everything, including her thoughts, she bought a plane ticket to her dream destination, jetted off and in the midst of enjoying her last days the opportunity to become a chef presented itself.
It was unexpected as her intention was to make the most of every minute, but instead she delved deeper into her bucket list than what she had expected.

How did she achieve her goals in such a short space of time without having the intention, and why had she not been given that opportunity sooner in life?

The answer is a simple, she let go. She let go of her thoughts, her belongings and the people in her life to make space for the new.

Most times we have the answer to changing our lives and living a life of fulfillment, but we become so consumed in making the change tomorrow, in living our dreams tomorrow that we miss the value of the current moment. The change we need to make begins with right now.

Taking a leap into the unknown is frightening and uncomfortable. It may or may not be worth it, but in order to receive something you have never had, you have to do what you have never done. It is a lifestyle of give and take not a lifestyle of give and keep. We then find ourselves sitting in a haze with our goals and ambitions fading away like the stars before dawn.

Purge yourself of everything unnecessary and anything or anyone you feel will be holding you back. Give yourself a fresh start. Have the universe on speed-dial, order a bucket of happiness, a salad of fun - whatever you desire - and then the next step is to be ready to receive your delivery. Believe you deserve it and the universe will serve it.

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone. - Andrisha Chartagoon
