THE Sapphire Coast Tourism drive, to beautify our town by painting bridges and landmark’s in sapphire blue, is in full swing.

Sapphire Coast Tourism sponsored the paint and last week Toti Conservancy’s Corinne Winson volunteered and painted 19 dolphin images along the walkway leading to Amanzimtoti Main Beach, in the colour.

“Samantha Wilsenach, who has since moved to Pretoria, and I helped paint the dolphins two years ago, and it brought back great memories,” Winson said.

This time, she was assisted by Peggy-Lee Gillies who painted the last 15 dolphin images on Saturday afternoon, November 18.

“We have now painted all except one ‘orphan’ that I discovered tucked away down the steps to the beach in front of Stella Marais, which will be done this week,” Winson said.

Sapphire Coast Tourism chairperson, Romy Wenzel thanked the volunteers for their wonderful community spirit.

“Corinne has been a great help to us and other community projects and we are sad to see her moving to Durban.

“Few people can accomplish what she had done in her time here,” Wenzel said.

“The bridge in Winklespruit will be the last to be painted and will be done before the end of the year,” she said.
