USHAKA Marine World got a huge thumbs up from the Grade 4 pupils from Umbumbulu’s Bhekulwandle Primary School near Amanzimtoti last week.

The school visited the Sea World Education Centre as part of the Know your City tour programme with Maseru Madlala, uShaka CEO Stella Khumalo and Pearl Olivier (project co-ordinator).

The Thekwini Municipality (Community Participation Children and Vulnerable Group Department) and various city stakeholders from tourist attractions, stadiums and museums, have joined forces to create this programme which provides primary schools in rural areas with tourism-based educational information enrichment through travelling and touring. The founder of Azibuyemasisweni Tourism Consultancy and the programme, Madlala, explained: “The main aim of this programme is to introduce a culture of travelling to our disadvantaged children. Our thanks go to uShaka Marine World for providing exciting cultural and educational visits for these children who have never travelled from their home towns. We believe that this visit will help them get to know the city of Durban and its lifestyle from an early age so that they can grow up to promote a travelling lifestyle and sell our beautiful city at the same time.”
