A HEAVY goods tanker with a double trailer carrying magnesium had a right-front-wheel blowout on the N2 south-bound last Tuesday.

The blowout caused the truck to veer across the centre median, it struck a concrete water drain and then hurtled across the north-bound lane.

According to Netcare 911’s Chris Botha the vehicle and trailer went up a grass embankment causing the two trailers to overturn. The wreckage of the truck and one trailer came to rest on the Moss Kolnick Road onramp to the N2 north around 200 metres from the impact with the concrete in the centre median.

The other trailer was found on its side next to the north-bound carriageway of the N2.”

Paramedics and the Amanzimtoti Fire Department found accident debris and oil spread over a very large area.

The driver of the truck escaped with very minor injuries.

He was treated at the scene before being transported to a local hospital for a check-up.
