KINGSBURGH Child Welfare hosted their annual beach walk on Sunday November 26 in aid of 16 Days of Activism of Violence Against Women and Children.

Weather conditions were perfect as supporters lined up at Winklespruit each at 7.30am, ready to seize the day.

The event was well-supported and the numbers of attendees have risen, with young and old and even four-legged friends joining in.

“Kingsburgh Child and Family Welfare would like to thank those who took part.

“The participation was greater than last year and so was the donation of clothing, and we thank the community for always heeding to our call,” chairperson, Jenny Smith said.

“To Winkle Life Saving Club, thank you for providing bacon and egg rolls after our walk.

It was very heart-warming to see so many families enjoying themselves with activities on the beach, after all this walk is to highlight violence or abuse against women and children in society.

The chairperson also thanked Romy Wenzel of Sapphire Coast Tourism for demarking the start and finish area.

“We are lucky to have beautiful beaches on our doorstep. Thank you Winkle-Warner’s South Coast people, ‘you rock’,” Smith said.
