A WOMAN was killed in a collision on the N2 north-bound at the Doonside off-ramp on Monday morning.

According to Netcare 911’s Chris Botha paramedics and other services responded to the collision where a 29-year-old female was travelling to Amanzimtoti when her vehicle spun out of control due to the wet weather and slammed sideways into a concrete bridge.

“Paramedics arrived at the scene and found she had died on impact. The patient was declared dead by ER ambulance service. Sometime later, we were standing at the scene when her husband arrived.

“The man was very traumatised and collapsed at the scene. Netcare 911 paramedics stabilised the patient at the scene before they transported him to a local hospital,” said Botha.

He said paramedics had attended to several accidents in the area on Monday morning due to the wet weather, which left more than 20 people injured and one dead.

“Paramedics are appealing to motorists to please slow down, increase your following distance, and keep your headlights on.

Beware of areas of the road that is waterlogged, this can cause you to lose control when driving at high speeds.

“Rather drive slowly and get to your destination than becoming another statistic on our roads,” he said.
