Young Erasmus sisters doing it for themselves

SISTERS Jessica and Stephanie Erasmus have been excelling in paddling and swimming, and also joined the Nippers in 2016.

They started paddling in October 2016 and have since been part of the Toti Canoe Club.

Their first race was on February 4, 2017. It was the KZN schools sprints where they both came first in their age groups and have since competed in KZN sprints, marathons, the renowned McGregor series, the SA Championships and also the ICF World Championships where the they dominated, bagging mostly gold medals in all competitions.

The sisters are also active swimming athletes. They started competing in 2014 and their coach from the Titans Swimming Club envisions a bright future for both Jessica and Stephanie’s swimming careers.

The duo also took part in the Midmar Mile in February 2017 where both Jessica and Stephanie competed for the first time and both finished in less than 40 minutes.

The girls also joined Nippers at Winkel Life Saving Club in September 2016 and at the KZN South Nipper competition in May 2017, they scooped a number of gold medals.

This year kicked off with KZN

swimming, paddling sprints and the famous Midmar events, and also included SA sprints with Jessica and Stephanie both aiming to achieve even greater heights in 2018 than last year.

Their aim is to represent South Africa at the World Olympics as soon as they are of qualifying age.

The girl’s clubs and supporters wished them well and hoped they go all the way.
