ON Tuesday, 12 January at 9.27pm Netcare 911 paramedics received a call for a vehicle that overturned on the N2 south Umbogintwini hill.

“Paramedics and the fire department found the Isuzu double-cab overturned on a bend, the wreckage coming to rest on its side in the breakdown lane of the highway,” Chris Botha, media liaison officer, Netcare 911 said.

“A 12-year-old-boy, believed to have been sitting in the passenger seat, was found lying in the road near the wreckage. Tragically, the child died before our arrival. No other person was injured in the accident.”

Exact detail to the cause of the crash is still speculative and will remain a subject for the SAPS to investigate. - Netcare 911.
