A Long walk towards a safer SA

2015-09-10 06:00

On the 6th of September 1910 NICRO was founded as South Africa Prisoner’s Aid Association by Justice Mr. J de Villiers Roos with his fellow colleagues in the then Justice department. It was the first countrywide organisation of its kind for the aid and after-care of prisoners and their families.

105 years later, NICRO has had significant contribution in South Africa, designing and implementing programmes that seek to develop and improve our communities for better.

The organisation history is marked by growing and changing nature of its services that, today, continue to respond dynamically to the changing needs of South African communities.

Given the panoply of constraints this is no mean feat. It has taken perseverance, courage, even endurance and sacrifice to pull through to this point. This is why we would like to take this moment to thank South Africa, our current and past Staff, community members, government, corporate, Trust andamp; Foundations that have stood with us in building this organisation to what it is today.

We continue to be committed to achieving our vision of a safer Country where the fear of crime and violence no longer governs.

We believe that, together with the people of South Africa, we can realise our dream of a nation united in mutual respect, dignity and compassion.

Thank you South Africa, for your support, “It seems impossible until it is done” Nelson Mandela
