Change the way you think and so change your community

2015-08-06 06:00

It was few weeks ago when the people of Lower Crossroads (Marikana) where striking for electricity, water and toilets. I happened to be at Lower Crossroad at that time and I noticed one thing about that particular strike - the majority of them was young people. I wondered whether the old people had no energy or time to protest.

As I was watching one word came to my mind and that is power the youth has got the power or energy to destroy anything they want or build anything. Within few hours they destroyed schools, houses, roads etc.

That’s a misguided power and the best known method of guiding such power to the right direction is through education. It is a sign of lack of education when you solve a problem by creating more problems. We always use what we have to get what we don’t have. The one basic motive of all strikes to create change.

It was Madiba who said to change the world the powerful weapon to use is education.

It was worth it for the youth of 1976 to sacrifice everything for it. Bantu bakuthi let us work together and educate our youth for the sake of our country before we say the famous words if only. Happy Women’s Day
