Nyanga township is being described as a murder capital nationwide which is a bad reputation.
Iliso LeNyanga yethu youth organisation decided to take astand and opened a new organisation.
We saw the bad situation that our brothers and sisters involves themselves in negative activities, these activities includes crime, gangsterism, alcohol and substance abuse.
There are so many youth organisation in Nyanga. The youth joins the
organisations and I’ll find out that they keep on doing these negative activities. Iliso LeNyanga Yethu decided to come up with a new strategy, we are going to do the awarenesses but this time we are going to make it funnier and there will be more entertainment and passing a right message.
We are going to do these awarenesses through performing arts. Sports will be included in our events because we believe sport unite people.
Our first event was on 18th July 2015 Mandela Day.
We celebrated the day differently. Members with their large number and spirit to play sport and games with children.
Nelson Mandela loved children so much and that is why we decided to spend the day with children playing sport and games with them. The event was huge, started from the performing arts.
Our main aim of the event was to have fun with children and to be recognised as an active and live youth organisation in the community which we succeeded
