The comedy movement is fastly gripping the minds of township folks if the numbers of comedy show every weekend are anything to go by.

Last weekend the editor of this newspaper, Voox Sonandzi said his friend, Neighy Wam nearly died choking whilst laughing his lungs out at Kefu’s Place, where a Khayelitsha cast of comedians was performing.

“As I saw patrons helping him I told myself that good comedy can really kill,” said a relieved Sonandzi.

“Thanks to actress Andrea Nomasebe Dondolo who gave Neighy mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.”

.This Friday Nkosinathi Maki will have his first one- man show at Guga S’thebe .

“ The idea is to run the first show in the township as a symbol and paying homage to where I come from,” he said

After three years working as an underground comedian, Maki feels fit to face the audience.

“I performed at the Grahamstown Arts Festival, the conclusion was that I am ready to have my first one man show,” he enthused.

He talks about subjects ranging from “getting mugged by a white guy” to “stealing cats”.

The admission fee is R50 and the show starts at 8pm. For details call on 0744919465.

.On Sunday at the Malibongwe Restuarant, at the Look Out Hill in Khayelitsha, Amasokolari comedy crew have yet another show.
