A war of words has erupted between the larger-than-life Pastor Nkomfa Mkhabile and a top business woman.

Eunice Mhonko Godze who owns a security and a waste removal company, has vented her frustration on Facebook, accusing the minister of defrauding her after a recording deal for blind singers went haywire.

“My blind brother, Vukile, is a singer and plays all kinds of music instruments . For his 51st birthday I wanted to spoil him and I decided to get his music recorded so that he can release his album.

A fuming Godze said: “I shared my wish Nkomfa who as a friend I thought I could trust, instead he has let me down big time.”

Mhonko said the saga began on April 8 when she bought her blind brother an accordion and also decided to “surprise him with a CD recording.”

He also sings with two other blind people and they have formed a group.

“I then approached Nkomfa and we decided he would find a studio in Umtata and record a CD for the blind singers,” she said. The blind singers then travelled to Umtata where they say they were “rushed” into the studio without any rehearsal or rest after the long stretch from Cape Town.

“The y spent one day in studio and Nkomfa called me, saying I must send the money because he was finished and everything went smooth and he would give me feedback on his return,” she said.

Her brother Vukile called and she could hear he was “heartbroken” but was not saying what went wrong.

Upon their arrival in Cape Town, Godze called a meeting with the blind singers and she was horrified to hear their story.

”When they started sharing the bad experience they went through, I could not believe my ears,” she said. They accused the pastor turned gospel singer ill-treatment and name-calling.

“They said there were tensions but continued because they didnt want to hurt me.

I have listened to the CD. What a damp squib!

Later, when confronted, he tried to defend his actions. I informed him of his unGodly doings, and that he had reneged on our contract.” According to her, she hasn’t heard from the pastor since.

“His phone is ringing off the hook, so i cant get hold of him, for I want to inform him of his shoddy studio work,” she said.

Godze added that she’d spent a lot of money on the project. City Vision contacted pastor Mkhabile.

“I have seen the stuff she wrote about me on Facebook and I will sue her.” He said his lawyers had written to her to “delete” the offending posts on Facebook and issue him with an apology.

“She is sullying my good name but she will not succeed. Many before her have done so and have failed dismally
