Xolisa Kwinana from Silversands preaches the word of God through his music.

The 23-year-old gospel singer, who is originally from Queenstown in the Eastern Cape, said: “I don’t sing gospel just to make money. I’m sending God’s message through my music. I love gospel and lifting people’s spirits through it.

“Every song in my album has a meaning and many people can relate to them.”

He said he began singing gospel when he was just 16 years old.

Xolisa said: “I grew up in church so I really didn’t know much about the outside world. However, I wouldn’t say that growing up in church is the reason I chose to sing gospel. This is a gift from God.

He chose it for me. I feel good when I sing gospel.

It’s really important to do something that you are passionate about and not what people want you to do.”

He said he released his album, titled Siphila Ngaye earlier this year.

He said he will launch it next month.
