The boys are it again! The well-loved all male group Heavenly Quartez will be on the up-and-up, shooting a musical video at the Look Out Hill on Saturday and Sunday.

Melikhaya Ndabeni crooned: “We’ve been waiting for this moment to come and therefore our fans should not miss it.”

The group was formed in 2008 during their school days at Harry Gala Secondary School in Khayelitsha.

“We were engaged in the senior school choir and our talents actually flourished there,” remembers Nkumbuzo Nonkonyana.

Their first widely acknowledged performance was at the Silulo Ulutho Technologies graduation ceremony in Khayelitsha in 2009.

This was followed by a steady flow of functions, including performances at the Queenstown Casino, the Look Out Hill and the have sung at various gigs during the 2010 Soccer World Cup and have shared the stage with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra in 2012.

The group are Nkumbuzo Nkonyana, Melikhaya Ndabeni, Mawande Mxunyelwa and Akhona Dudumashe.

Their first full album, following the single Mzali Wam, was Isiqalo(The Beginning), which was released in 2011 and proved a great success with fans.

The focus of the group is classical crossover music with a flavour of opera and choral music as well as Afro-classics fused with Jazz and Gospel.

The group aim to go much further than the production of albums and the offering of ad-hoc performances or gigs.

The quartet’s HQ Productions (Pty) Ltd is a registered music-production company that aims to become active in PA/sound system hire, music recording, music lessons, events, merchandising and music consultation.

The weekend video shoot will be their first DVD and will include their two singles Sulila (Don’t Cry) and Sulirum.
