There are people who would rather do nothing than do anything useful.

The blot would rather sit at home than attend a seminar. What is it going to do for me? They ask. It is too expensive. or whether It is too far. They want to know first.

Poor excuses. Because we are poor by our actions. Especially if our actions are lazy. Well, this weekend I attended a seminar on wealth.

I did not know what it was all about. I was fascinated. I wanted to know. And I went. It was far from my place. I woke up quite early.

Because it was starting quite early. I did not want to be late.

I got there on time. So I got what I wanted to know. It was worth it.

And it was mind-boggling. I was staggered. There is so much that we do not know, but we think we do. Are you like that?

Do you think you know everything? I don’t know about you, but I don’t.

Especially after this weekend. I learned a thing or two. And I hope I will utilize it. Because if I do, I will live my dreams. Deep down inside we all want to live our dreams. But we are afraid to do it. We give excuses. We say we are poor. We did not start right. If only I was rich, or if only my parents were rich.

We can’t just take charge and say, “You know what, I will do this thing.” So this is the story about this seminar. It made me think things about life. That there are things out there. We can still rescue ourselves. We just got to be willing, and be willing to commit. And the good thing about this seminar was that it was South African driven. It was not American.

One had no excuses to say, “It happens in America. Not here.” Here were South Africans in front of you saying, “We are doing it. And here is how we are doing it.” One of them was even a former drug addict!

A coloured guy. From Reiger Park. One of those rough and tumble areas in the country. I just looked at him and said, things are happening. Some people are pulling themselves out of despair.

I just thought of all the guys I left behind. Guys that are still sleeping. And on waking up will not know what to do. I just thought of all the unemployed. Some of them graduates. And don’t wanna learn. I just thought of them all. And wished they were here. And learn a thing or two. Because if they can learn, they can rescue themselves. Stay positive
