Women’s month year in year out is an opportunity to reflect on the power of voice and action embodied by these life and love givers, whose inner strength supersedes their physicality.

Warrior Queens, Princesses, strategists and leaders whose compassion and a willing heart to stand and be counted makes them a force to be reckoned with.

The 1956 march saw a unity of matriarchs who did not allow a challenge to cripple and suffocate them, but saw an opportunity to stand together and be counted.

The gains of the 1956 Women’s march, not to go to the shops or the river, but to march like an army to the Union Buildings; 20 000 martyrs call upon each of us to uphold and protect those gains.

It takes a sharp mind and wit to overcome adversities, an even braver heart with foresight and a strong moral compass to remain unshaken.

Conviction is the heartbeat of those who embody the values of Ubuntu, the thumping heartbeat like a sacred drum reminds us of the very signal of life.

Our consciences are the very essence of humanity, a constant reminder of the Divine creator’s wisdom.

Professor Piti-ka-Ntuli reminds us of the definition of Umfazi (Umfa-azi) one who from creation was granted the wisdom of knowledge, neglected Ufa’azi (die-knowing).

How possible is it then that one so divinely gifted afe-esazi, that’s foolishness and a denial of the sacred anointing?

Philanthropy is not a predisposition of the rich in worldly worth but in definition it is the love for humanity, activism is embedded in these values.

The ultimate achievement of humanity is to be part of a bigger whole.

We cannot afford to drop the baton while social and economic ills continue to deny women a quality of life befitting queens. Its significant that Women’s Month is on the eighth month, as they say 7 is the number of divinity and 8 is an added extra prior to 9 which is the month when childbirth occurs.

May all warrior queens heed the call to stand and be counted, never to lose your voice, which allows you to be heard from afar. The echo of humanity’s survival rumbles in your bosoms. Rise daughters of the soil, rise mothers of the nation.

Malibongwe igama lamakhosikazi. Bekunga kungangamil’ingca apho ninyathele khona, kumile izithole ezakondla oonyana nee ntombi ze Afrika. Happy Women’s month.
