Langa police warn of crime

2015-09-17 06:00

Langa police officers are raising awareness about high rise of robberies, burglaries and carjacking in the area.

This comes after they have noticed an increase in street robberies, burglaries as well as carjacking complaints, in the past few weeks.

In most cases people are being robbed in the mornings when they going to work and back. Firearms and knives are used to threaten the victims. Cell phones are the most targeted valuables. Burglaries and house robberies mostly happens over night, and expensive clothing and house hold goods like television (TV), sound systems and other valuable items are targeted. In some cases criminals kick and break the doors or windows and rob people whilst they are sleeping. Residents are advised to walk in groups especially when they go to and from work. You must scream loud when you are being robbed, walk in streets where there is enough light or well illuminated and avoid using dark passages or quite streets where there are no people. Motorists should be vigilant at all times when driving during the night especially at intersections. Always be alert when you are parking or approaching your house. If you see any suspicious vehicle or people nearby your house do not stop rather drive to the police station and ask for assistance
