‘Litsha’ race against crime right on track

It’s all systems go for the Khayelitsha 10km road race planned for this Sunday.

Organised by Khayelitsha Athletics Club, the race is dubbed “Khayelitsha Race Against Crime and Substance Abuse”.

KAC president Nelson Tshambo said this was the eight time they are staging the race and by the look of things it will be the “best so far”.

Tshambo revealed that they have received sponsorships from various companies like Old Mutual, Zone Fitness, Sasko and Jive.

“We are very pleased with interest shown by these companies and we will deliver one of the best races in the township,” said Tshambo.

Also taking in the race would be reverends Hansie Louw and Pastor Xola “Black Pain” Skosana who cemented their friendship by entering a Comrades Marathon race together.

Club secretary Nomfundo Nkohla said there will be many prizes offered on the day.

She urged the community to support the event.

“We will be giving two Zone Fitness membership to some lucky people,” she said.

The race will start and end at the Mandela Park Stadium on Sunday 30 August 30 at 7am.

Registration will be done from 5:30am on the day of the race, athletes and fun runners are urged to arrive in time.
