Methodists invite children

2015-06-04 06:00

The False Bay Circuit forms part of The Methodist Church of Southern Africa in the Cape Of Good Hope District, is a Non-Profit Organization, located in Khayelitsha.

It is made up of 14 societies.

The number of registered children in our 2015 records is 550, whom the Church offers spiritual and pastoral Guidance to.

Of these children, one third of them are teenagers.

In 2014, the leadership identified a need for teenage oriented ministry as there is as a decline in the number of teenagers attending service.

Most teenagers are vocal individuals who are at a stage where they are establishing their identity and individualism.

It is with this knowledge in mind that a decision has been taken by the Circuit leadership to have a unit within our Circuit that is of the teenagers, for teenagers by teenagers.

The aim is that all programmes run by this unit will be devised by the teenagers for teenagers with an ultimate goal of teenage empowerment and deepening their spirituality.

We are not only looking at offering spiritual and pastoral guidance to teenagers within our church, however, the aim is to recruit other teenagers with the community of Khayelitsha at large.

The idea is for us to talk about the event, how beneficial it would be to the teenagers in our areas as well as invite them to come and take part in the launch
