What do losers do? They blame all the time. They have excuses. “It is not my fault. It is somebody else’s”, they say. I was once like that. I was good at giving excuses. But these days, I do not.

I never, at any time. When things go against me, as they sometimes do, I take them in my stride.

“Maybe I did put enough effort,” I say these days. And leave it at that. I don’t look at it too long. I don’t analyze it.

“It happened, so what? Thats what I say.

There are lots of things that will happen in one’s life. Some of them are not your fault. They may be caused by racists.

Like what happened to me not so long ago. I wanted to be taught the ropes on salesmanship. We all want to be coached on one thing or another.

And guess what? I was given a coach from Zimbabwe. That’s a white company giving me somebody from Zim. I just chuckled to myself and said, “Let’s wait and see. I wonder where it would end.”

It ended with the guy saying he will contact me on a specific date. He never did. That is how it ended. And looking back, I wondered why they gave me a person from Zim in the first place. Was it because I was black?

No, I allowed myself to indulge on that thought. You can’t turn a blind eye on some things.

You’ve got to face them. But let them not linger on forever. They will damage you.

Sooner or later you will be an angry person. You will blame every white person and say, “Whites are racists!” Which is not true. There are good whites. And they are in abundance.

But there are some bad apples. That you can’t help. You’ve got to live with it, just as there are good and bad blacks. Some blacks won’t help you. They will make sure you don’t get what you want.

Does it sound familiar? This is what I am talking about. There is good and bad everywhere. But let that not hold you back. When you encounter something like an obstacle, swallow your pride.

Don’t retaliate. That’s a waste of time. And energy. See what you can do to get around it to get what you want. When you want something you will get it. It depends on how you react.

So I was cool about this Zim episode, and amused. It showed me how some people think, even if they say they are ‘progressive.’ I don’t watch what they say. I watch what they do. And don’t blame. Stay positive
