Nyanga precinct still sheds blood- police call for help

Following a week of bloodshed, Nyanga police are pleading for the community to assist in the solving of murders.

According to SAPS since the 6th of April five lifeless bodies has been discovered in the policing precinct.

“On Monday 06 April, Mesuli Mbeteni, was found lying on the floor with multiple head injuries near Nyanga Terminus. It is suspected he was assaulted with stones. He was rushed to hospital and died on arrival.

Another victim, Siyabonga Mboni, was also found assaulted and burnt near Sigcawu Primary School in Crossroads, he also died in hospital,” Nyanga police spokesperson Ntomboxolo Sitshitshi told City Vision.

She said that another body was discovered on Thursday 9 April in Chris Hani Street in Browns Farm. He was also allegedly assaulted with stones which were found near his body.

“On Saturday 11 April, three men were shot at whilst in Daffodil Street in Heinz Park. A 42-year-old Dovonovan Pienaar died on the scene but two other men (21 and 25) survived.

A case of murder and attempted murder is being investigated. Another man was found stabbed at the gate of his yard in Mpozolo Street in Philippi. The suspects and motive are unknown at this stage,” she said.

She said that another man was found shot dead once in the head in Messiah in Cossovo informal settlement.

“Vehicle parts were found scattered inside the shack he was found in. The parts belonged to a vehicle which was reported stolen in Lentegeur, suspects are unknown. This occurred on Saturday, 11 April 2015,” she said

On Sunday, 12 April a 20-year-old man was also found lying in Khetsha Street in Browns Farm with head injuries. The man was allegedly assaulted. A hammer and a DVD player were found near the deceased. Suspects are unknown.

“On the same day a 26-year-old woman was found dumped inside a drain in Crossroads. The woman was allegedly dragged and dumped by unknown men. She died inside the drain,” she added.

On Wednesday 15 three men were shot at whilst sitting inside a vehicle in Good Hope Street in Heinz Park.

“It is alleged the three were approached by two coloured male one carrying a firearm, he just shot at them. The only survivor managed to drive the vehicle to Philippi and the victims were rushed to hospital but later died,” he said.

She asked members of the community to help police solve these murders.

“We appeal to the people of Crossroads, Heinz Park, Nyanga, Samora Machel and Browns Farm who might have information about the suspects who have committed these crimes to contact SAPS,” she said.
