Despite coming from troubled townships where crime is rampant and youth is faced with the collapse of hope this duo of trailblazers is hellbent on putting their kasis on the map.

Jonathan Ntutu of Gugulethu represented South Africa at African Games held at Congo Brazzaville last week.

Sprinting for the para-athletics team that bagge five medals, Ntutu won the T12 200m in 22.47, with compatriot Hilton Langenhoven earning silver in 22.69.

“ I am thrilled to have represented my country well and I hope victories like these will inspire other youngsters to take sports seriously,” said Ntutu.

Team SA finished second in the overall medals table at the multi-sport games, behind Egypt, with a total of 122 medals (41 gold, 41 silver and 40 bronze).

Another township shining star is Zimkhitha Galela Waly of Langa.

Last week though she did not win the coveted Miss Heritage SA title in Jozi, she has something to write home about. She was voted Miss Personality and Best Talended entrant.

Miss Heritage is a reality television international beauty pageant that promotes world tangible and intangible heritage.

The pageant has over 50 countries currently franchised to participate at its World Finals, has a strategic partner, which is a Women Empowerment Organization called We for We, based in India.

An excited Zimkhitha took to social media upon the announcement of results where she was pipped by PE girl Zizipho Ntlanganiso. Her fans and well wishers and fans were out pouring in their congratulatory messages.

“This means a lot me coming from Langa, I know a lot of young talented children will be inspired to follow in my footsteps,” she told City Vision.

“My love for what I do and my art work is beyond, I was voted Miss Personality and most talented finalist,” she said
