The window for aspirant entrepreneurs to apply to study at the Raymond Ackerman Academy for Entrepreneurial Development is closing.

The academy is inviting those who are interested in developing their business mindset to submit their application before the December 1 deadline for the January to June 2018 programme.

This programme is offered to young people who are passionate about business and personal development, with limited opportunities for accessing tertiary education or finding employment.

It is a subsidised course where learners get to pay only R2500 and one graduate believes that its worth the money and the experience.

Phila Magidigidi, 29, graduated from the academy in 2011 and went on to build his company Lesip Entertainment under which he has founded successful businesses such as Tekki Washi Kings and Phila Water.

He is part of group of graduates who have gone on to make a big impact in their community and the business industry.

Other notable graduates include such as Vincent Manzini, founder of Ikasi Experience and Black Kanvas marketing, Wandisile Nqeketho, who founded 18 Gangster Museum in Khayelitsha.

The 18 Gangster Museum is a live museum were former gang members offers insight into gang life and how they turned their lives around.

Magidigidi said that the academy helped shape his ideas to make an impact.

“They teach you how the business works. The education is important for you to package your ideas,” he said.

“You can learn a lot which you can use in the work environment. It is worth a try even if you are not sure. It will help you have a positive influence in your community,” he added.

The course has an 18 to 30 year old age requirement, a matric certificate and must not have a tertiary qualification, and one must have been unable to pursue a tertiary education due to financial constraints or other circumstances .
