Urban Rural Development Capacity Building Project commemorated the country’s Heritage Day celebrations under the theme: Be Proud of your Heritage.

More than 100 people took part in the fest on Monday, held at the Langa Housing Department offices.

The project administers and oversees more than 22 food gardens on vacant pieces of land belonging to the City of Cape Town, including clinics, schools and churches.

the project also runs two food kitchens.

However, Monday was one day the members decided to hang down and showcase their traditions, as they donned diverse attires.

Dr Nkomfa Mkabile, of the Bethel International Ministries, delivered the motivational talk.

Nompumelelo Ngoqo, project director said: “A secondary impact of the food gardens supports service to HIV positive individuals who often get their only meal of the day from these gardens.”
