LETTER: ANC’s claims that it has liberated us are far from the truth

2016-02-25 06:00

Musi Maimane is a good leader who is acknowledging that racism exists and that it is wrong to assume that only white people are racist.

Black people are racists too.

What creates this bridge is the economic disparities between those that have and those that do not. Its white people that are more privileged than Blacks.

Racism is the intent to subjugate and thus bring down a person’s value through the abuse of power and through economic status.

I have also seen Black persons looking at other blacks with disdain.

Particularly Black people from urban areas looking down on Blacks from rural areas.

The DA is the only party that tries to diversify its structures and promote unity. I am able to communicate with diverse people who are now my political mentors.

The ANC is racist, their electorate is solely based on colour.

Let me explain this better by giving a practical example.

There is a community based organisation led by Doron Isaacs that marched against the department and the minister of basic education Angie Motshekga to advance advocacy for standardised public school infrastructure for all public schools.

Today the regulation for minimum norms and standards for public schools exist and have been passed because of the hard work of Doron Isaacs and his organisation.

This regulation forces and mandates every province and district to ensure that every school, including those in the Eastern Cape, KZN and Limpopo, to have adequate school infrastructure.

The ANC threw it right back and said its a white man trying to sabotage the ANC.

Why is it wrong for a person of colour to assist the disadvantaged.

Why must it be assumed that there are hidden agendas if the person is not Black.

The ANC are racists for thinking like that nstead of supporting a man that is trying advocate for an equal education system for the black majority.

The ANC always play the race card. The DA has proved on numerous occassions that it is the alternative party to govern this country.

The Western Cape DA led government has brought down the unemployment rate to 20% while nationally and across the country unemployment has increased by 25%.

The Western Cape DA led municipalities has just been awarded for clean audits.

This does not exist anywhere where the ANC is power.

The ANC knows nothing else but being corrupt and catering for its cadres rather than caring for our people.

However this does not mean that racism does not exist.

If we can be bold enough to be open more about these issues and what it means to be racist, it will help us a lot as a means to root out this anomaly.

What we also need to take cognisance of is that politicians in the early 90’s or during CODESA had an agreement in terms of ending apartheid, however, this was never taken down to community members and our people.

The expectation was then that people should just accept what was agreed upon.

I don’t think dwelling in the past will help much except to cause rhetoric.

However I think the psychological perception of each race should be out in the open and frankly debate the rationale and normalcy of such inner perception as one’s identity.

Political education can be essential in debating issues of race and identity.

Not only race and identity.

But people also need to know that the future lies in them.

Its not the ANC that brought us freedom but its the people.

One of the great ANC stalwart Chris Hani alluded in the 1980’s via the Red Paper that while the people were advancing the struggle for freedom and were being killed.

The political elite(ANC) were getting ready to reap the fruits of the blood of the people.

This reaffirms that its the people that fought for liberation, not the ANC.

If people could have that revelation that they have that power then 2019 would be a historic election year.

But these things needs to be taught, debated and shared with our people.

The ANC needs to know that it is about the people first and not their pockets. Our people are their own liberators
