Efforts by Harare police to root out crime yielded positive results as they apprehended five men in two separate incidents for the theft of motor vehicles.

On Monday 4 February, police received a report of a stolen white VW Microbus in Makhaza.

After following several leads, they arrested one suspect and recovered the vehicle in Langa.

Two more suspects were arrested on Tuesday. Three suspects, aged between 24 and 42 years, are expected to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates Court today, Thursday 7 February.

In another incident, on Sunday, 3 February, police recovered a Fiat Punto that was stolen in Mandela Park, after it was reported at approximately 3:15, and police spotted the vehicle with two occupants in the vicinity of Lingelethu West. As they flagged the vehicle down, it sped, and a chase ensued. The driver rammed into a fixed object. Two men aged 24 and 28 were arrested on the scene.
